In regard tc tho much-debated question of profit and loss in connection with Saturday's championship meeting, an amicable arrangement iias now been fixed up. The N.Z.A.A.A. have agreed tc share half the profits with the Otago Centre, and the latter in its turn will share its quota in equal ! parts with tlio JJunedin Amateur Athletic Club, the North Otago A.A.C., and the Dunedin Harriers. The northern representatives at tho Now Zealand Championship meeting on Saturday ' nrrivo by the north express to-night, and will bo mot at the railway station by Dr Roberts (president of the Now Zealand Amatouv Athletii, Association) and Mr AV. L. Hooper (president of the local centre), together with a number of prominent local athlctics. A oommittee meeting of the local ccntrc was hold last evening to make final arrangements for the ohampionships. Tho Invercargill man (A. S. Peters) arrives on Friday, and reports from tho south etato that lie is in raro form, and will make a good show in tho one and three-mile flat racos. The ICaikorai Band has been engaged by the committee, and previous to being at the ground will march from tho Octagon. Through the courtesy of the manager of railways the afternoon trains north and soutli have been delayed, and this is sure to be appreciated by country visitors. The committee arranged for an extra black board for the ground on Saturday so as to let tho publio see on both sides of the fields. Given fine weather there should bo a largo gathering of the public present, for it is some time since so many of tho colony's champions have been hero. The local ccntre are greatly indebted to the Otago Cricket Association, who have postponed all cricket matches for next Saturdayi The medals will be distributed 011 Saturday night at a smoke concert to be held in Club House, Moray place, and on Sunday the visitors will be the guests of the Otago Association to a trip to Portobello.
