PTESENTATIONS.

Hcaiing that Mr J. G. Parker, dairy inspcotor for Dunedin and suburban, districts, vras being transferred to Napier, the dairymen too* the opportunity of giving him a farewell supper and making him a presentation. Thia took place in tho Bay View Hotel on Friday evening, and was attended by a laige number o£ dairymen, representing every district under Mr Parker's supervision. Mr D. M'Gregor, president of the Dunedin and Suburban Dairymen's Association, occupied tho chair, and, in wishing success to Mr Parker in his new district, said that the dairymen in and around Dunedin were very sorry to lose Mr Parker's services. He (Mr -Parkor) had been the first inspector unden the Dairy Regulations Act appointed.to ffiis district, and up to date ho had done excellent work, acting not only as inspector, but also aa an instructor. If the department had left MS Parker in charge lero for another two years the dairy premises would have been almost perfect. Mr H'Gregor then, presented the gue3t with a case of pipes and a hunting crop, both suitably inscribed. Mr Parker, in reply, thanked the dairymen for their kind treatment of him during hie two years of office amongst them, and hoped that they would extend th<» same good-fellowship to. his successor, Mi Brown. Tho presents, particularly the pipes, would ever keep the southern dairymen fresh in lu3 memory. During the evening songs were sung by Messrs M'Grcgor, Green, M'Curdy, and Mike, while Mr Hinklcy and Mr M'Farlano vied with one another aa raconteurs. Mr Gilmoio treated the company to some splendid selections on the violin, and Mr Mowat danced the sword dance. A very pleasant evening was brought to a conclusion by singing " Auld lang syne." In the library of the Hillside Workshops yesterday afternoon a shield of pictures was presented to the shops "by the employees who served in South Africa-. Mr Evans, manager, received the picture and thanked the donors on behalf of tho shops. Ho alao spoke in praise of the boys who represented Hillside at &e' front. Mr E., Farrnnt, vice-president of {Bβ library, also thanked tho donors for theii present, which would bo an acquisition to the library, of which the men wore all justly'proud. The picture is artistically finished and mounted in a massive oak frame. Mr C. C. Armstrong, photographer, who undertook the work, deserve* , every credit for his workmanship. - '
