POLLARD'S OPERA COMPANY.

Tho popular Polards open a season at tho Princess Theatre next Friday evening, the 9Mi inst., when Mr Tom Pollard will introduce to a Dunedin audience for the first time an entirely new and original musical play entitled " The Toreador,", which is still meeting with much success at the Gaiety Theatre, London,' after its 462 nd consecutive performance. It first saw the light of day.- in New Zealand at Auckland, where tho Pollards produced it less Hum three months ago, and, according to the local press, scored a complete triumph. It ran for 11 consecutive nights, which, on a population basis, would mean something like 1100 nights in London. The music is described as much above the average to be found in musical comedies, the dialogue genuinely humorous, and, above all, there is a flat on which every character has a bearing. " Tho Toreador" will bo dressed and mounted with entirely new wardrobe and scenery, and will be interpreted by all the old and popular members of the company, supported by the new tenor, Mr Percival Ayliner, who makes his first appearance before a Dunedin audience. The box plan will be open for inspection at the Dresden on Tuesday morning, where scats may be booked week in advance. The company conclude their season at Invercargill this evening, and play at Balo'.utha on Monday, producing." Florodora," and then come on to Dunedin, where they go into active rehearsal for their opening night here on Friday.
