OTAGO ROWING CLUB'S CARNIVAL.

The Otago Rowing Club's carnival was continued at the Agricultural Hall yesterday afternoon and evening. Qootl business was done at both times, find in the evening the attendance was again large in spite of the weather, though there Avas no inconvenient crowding. As on Saturday night the dancing evoked much applause, and was greatly appreciated. It is evidently the chief centre of attraction to many. The side slioavs have been reinforced to an extent, and last evening the archery gallery, under Mr;Provo, Avas in full swing, and provoked considerable interest. "Aunt Sally," the ina.ii in the tub, again had a large and admiring audience, and the ping-pong tables, graphoplione, shooting gallery, and other snares for the unsophisticited all had their share of patrons. In the lace-work exhibits some additional specimens of really admirable merit have been handed in in tho shape of a-table-cloth and collar that critics speak very highly of. An interesting competition will be that connected with the elongated candle from Messrs M'Leod Bros., and tlie prize-Aviiiner who guesses correctly liOAy long it will burn will need to use much discrimination. Altogether the carnival presents a scene of gloAving animation and colour, and all connected with it arc untiring in their efforts to make it the success that it appears to be. Music Avas supplied last evening by tho Black Family. The carnival will , be continued this afternoon and evening) AVhen the Port Chalmers Rowing Clubs' and Band are to be present.
