— o-. -— CANTERBURY v. OTAGO. (From Our Own Correspondent.) ' CHRISTCHURCH, August 29. Tho weather is cold but fine, and promises well for tho match between Otago and Canterbury on. Lancaster Park to-morrow. ,A great deal of interest is being taken in tho event here, and a close game is anticipated, although Canterbury, who average 13.6 forward, aro favourites. Booth is unwell, and will not be available to-morrow, his placo at' full back being taken by Casey. Mr A. 0. Norris, of Wellington, will act as referee. The following players mil constitute tho Otago team:— Full back, Casey; three-quarters—Baxter, Bennofc, Stalker; halves—Munro, Duncan, Knowles; forwards—Ronald, Spiers, I'enwiek, Mitchell, Roddick, Given, Stewart, Pcrtcous. JUNIOR INTERPROVINCIAL WATCH. The first contest of a now series of interprovincial football matohos will be played on the Caledonian Ground this afternoon, when teams chosen from tho players engaged in tho Canterbury and Otago Rugby Unions' junior competitions will meet. Tho Canterbury representatives, who arrived in Dunedin on Thursday night, and are staying at tho Criterion Hotel, aro reputedly a good combination. They have,' indeed, already shown this soason that they are worthy of respect from the fact that they have inflicted a defeat upon the Wellington junior representatives. This afternoon's contest is exciting a good deal of interest, and, provided tho weathor is -fino, a capital display may lie looked for. Mr A. Domes will act as referee.

Owing to the wet weather prohibiting two miitohos being played on tho Caledonian ground to-day, tho trial match will not be p-ayed.
