CASUALTIES.
(Fer United Press Association.) WESTPORT, June 29. On Friday a man named Finlayson, white boating coal up the' Buller River to the Bullcr Junction dredge, got the boat broadside on to the river against a snag, and it capsized, throwing the occupants—Finlayson, ,lames, and Albom—into the water. The two last-named got ashore, but Finlayson was drowned. When last seen he was swimming strongly for the shore, and it- is surmised that lie was seized with cramp and sank.' The body has not yet been recovered.
INVEUCARGILL, -Tune 28. A girl three years old, daughter of .Tohn Buchanan, Spar Bush, was fatally shot by her brother with a Itcmimrton rifle. The youth had returned homo from a. shooting excursion, when a charge unaccountably exploded. The bullet entered the back of the head, death resulting in'a few houri.
