A CHARGE OF MURDER.

(Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 9. At the Police Court James Miller appeared to answer a charge of having murdered his son, Herbert Edward George Piper. Accused, who looked ill, appeared with his throat bandaged. The Crown Prosecutor, in outlining the facts, stated that on December 8 accused cut the child's ■ throat and inflicted wounds on himself.' He admitted the offence to the neighbours, and after being treated at the hospital was arrested on a charge of murder. After hearing the evidence prisoner was committed for trial.
