Drunkenness.—One first offefader was fined 6s, or 24 hours' imprisonment, and another was directed to be kepi in custody till the next moriiing, aB he had not apparently qllito.recovered from the effects of his libations. Maintenance.—Archibald Burt applied to have an order for the maintenance of an illegitimate child which had been made against him cancelled.— I This case was before the Court some time ago, and Mr Graham reserved his decision. 'Dig' application was made oil the ground that the mother was now married,'■ and that the husband was liable for the support of the child.—Mr Irwin, wKo appeared for Burt, relied upon the section of "The-Destitute Persons Act, 1894," which set forth/that every husband whose wife had a child, or children, at the time oi tte marriage, whether, illegitimate or not; was liable to maintain the same up to a certain 'age.—Mr Sim, who opposed the application on behalf of the father of the girl, drew his Worship's attention to the case of Spicer v. A'yers in which Mr Justice flehniston had held that" an ord&r could be mode against the father.—His Worship said that in the face of Mr Justice Denniston's decision he could not grant the application.-—Horatio Nelson Pine was sentenoed to a month's imprisonment for disobeying ah order of tho court to contribute towards .the support of hifl children.
