A RACING APPEAL.

A Wellington telegram says:— The judges appointed to consider the appeal of R. W. Paterson versus the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club have given their decision in the case of tlio disqualification of the former. The findings of the stewards as to offences committed by Mi- Paterson, and the disqualification imposed, were confirmed, and that part of th appeal dismissed. The secretary of the club intimated that the club was willing to reconsider the period of disqualification if application was made by Mr Patcrson. The judges thought the interpretation of rules 111, 118, anc] 127 adopted by tho club was incorrect. The decision as to the stakes was reversed, and it was directed that the stakes won by Ringlet and Dr Bill be paid to Mr Pnlerson. as neither he nor the horses were disqualified at the time when the races were won. The appellant's deposit wns ordered to be returned. The judges were Messrs H. S. Ball, J. A. Cool:, and the Hon. C..J. Johnston.
