CASUALTIES.

AUCKLAND, December 20.

A collision between a light trap and one of Andrew ami Son's 'buses last night reunited in the shaft of the buggy going right through both logs of the driver (Alf Lyons) and tearing the dress of a lady passenger on the box seat. Lyons, who had sustained dreadful injuries, was taken to the hospital. The 'bus was crossing the street, to pick up a passenger when the neoirlent occurred. Nothing is known as to the trap or its driver. CHRISTCHURCH, December 20. Walter Wqakley, a driver for Manning and Co., brewers, was killed at 11. o'clock this morning. He wns driving a dray containing a number of full barrels of beer over the railway crossing Rtl the Gasworks road, when his horse slipped in the middle of the permanent way. He got it righted, and was going at, a slow trot round the corner, when he lost his balance and fell under the wheel, which passed over his breast and both arms. One of the barrels also fell out of the cart and struck him on the fame portion of the body. When assistance readied him lie only moaned and tiled in a few seconds. "Weak'ley was a steady man, and had been for some years with the Mannings. He was the Chief Ranger of one of fhe local Foresters' lodges, and took part in the Jubilee procession. He leaves a wife and family.
