1 Messrs Wise and Co. (Mr J. G. Sawell, proprietor) have forwarded us a specimen copy of the first part of an album of pictures and photographs," which George Newnes (Limited) are issuing, illustrative of the chief events in the Boer war. The photographs are admirably clear and well-finished,'•and a chronological history of the war accompanies them. The album will be completed in ab&ut 12 fortnightly parts. Messrs Wise and Co. have also sent us specimen copies of " Under the Union Jack " and "The King," two other illustrated publications by the company of George Newnes (Limited), the' contents consisting largely of war pictures. " The King " is a specially well got-up weekly. ■
