TRAINING, NOTES PROM WINGATUI.

By Eajily Bip.d. Most o{ the work yesterday morning was half-pace work, and there was nothing startling to chronicle. Taggart sent Red Banner once round, and Paladin two rounds on the plough, while Ellis's horses—Jupiter, Abercrombie, St. Ouida, and Decoy—executed slow work. Dim Djin and Si. Ilario traversed two circuits of the plough at a slow gait, and Ladykiller, Whirlwind, and Melita accomplished the same work. Dead Beat was also on the track, biit did not work. Blayer also executed a light task of cantering. Advance was given twice round on the plough, and Seabreeze negotiated the same training. Whirlwind, Ladykiller, Dead Beat, DjinDjin, and St. Ilario arrived by the north oxpress on Thursday evening, while Advance arrived in the afternoon. The former horses are accommodated at O'Kano's, and Advance is located at MrL. Hazlotl's stable.

St. Ilario is looking really well, and lias the appearance of ■having undergone a. thorough preparation. He strode along very nicely in his work yesterday morning. He is in charge of George Matthews. Djin-Djm has a. healthy appearance, acid is in rare racing buckle. Advance was also worked, and strode along i;i his work like a Trojan. The son of Vanguard is a plain-looking customer, but has a rare stylo of galloping. He is in good nick, and is looking bright. Advance is in charge of H. Frances.

I understand that tho following are the probable riders in the Cup :—Jupiter. M'Comb-Djin-Djin, J. Pine; St. Ilario, Holmes; Advance, Jenkins; Paladin, Hewitt. "Tortulla. did not make the trip, and therefore will be an absentee from the meeting. Hobbs was expected with his team last night, and will put up at the syndicate's stable.

A London cable says:—"At the Gatwiek races the Horleyland Hurdles resulted thus. Friday 1, Tornado II 2, "Cpper Cut 3." At the Masterton races yesterday Agentgeneral (£2 13s) won the Hack Hurdles. De'rringcotte (£111s) the Comity Hack, Ambrosia (£l3) the Autumn Handicap. Rebounding Lock (£32 16s) the Railway Handicap Discharge (£4 8s) the High-weight Handicap. Vibration (£5 7s) the Telephone Handicap Transvaal (£5 Ss) the Welter Hack, Handicap, and Rosette (£7 15s) the Final Hack Handicap
