General Gourko, the Russian military attache in (lie Transvaal, has cabled to the Czar that he was perfectly amazed at the energy in action and the wonderful endurance of the British infantry. THE BOER PRISONERS. LONDON, March 15. Five transports are being selected to convey the Boer prisoners to St. Helena. The Niobe will act as their escort. March 15. The Boer prisoners at Simonstown were the recipients of water melons containing messages showing how the plots for their escape were being carried on. THE JOHANNESBERG- MINES. ■ LONDON, March 15. There are; persistent statements, having their origin in Delagoa-Bay, to the effect that/great preparations are being made in order to destroy Johannesberg and dynamite the mines and batteries. March 16. (Received March 16, at 10.35 p.m.) Mr Chamberlain, having regard to the threats to wreck the mines at Johannesburg, stated that- President' Kruger had been warned at the outset that he would be held responsible for any uncivilised acts.
