PICNICS AND SPORTS.
DUNEDIN FOUNDRY AND ENGINEER- .' ING (COMPANY. The employees' second annual picnic in connection with the Dunedin Foundl-y arid Engineering Company (Limited) was held, at Waitati on Monday in 'a splendid.paddock,' kindly lent by Mr ColohaJi for, the occasion. Although the Weather was anything'but promising in the. morning; about 200 persons availed themselves of the trip, and'all appeared,to thoroughly enjoy themselves. ' A capital-, programme of sports was carried out, the different events be,ing keenly contested. The committee also engaged the hall, where dancing .was indulged .in by old and young, the music played by the North-East Valley Band being a feature of the day's outing. In the unavoidable absence of Mr W. Gardner, the'manager of the firm, Mr Waddcl I presented the trophies to the different winners. At the close of hia remarks three cheers were called, for Mr Gardner for so kindly donating prizes, and Mr Colehan for the use of-the ground, and were loudly responded to. A word of praise is duo to tho' committee, who v/ere indefatigable in attending to their many dutieß. The following are tlie results.of the sports:— ■
