CLUTHA ELECTION. TO THE EDITOR.

Sik, —We all know the losses we sustain by having rejected rabbits, after the labour of catching and trouble of carting them to the railway. We blame the, buyers for being too strict, and have a notion that all is not fair. Now, to any trapper who puts his own rabbits on the train the first thing that strikes him is the rough usage thqy undergo ,.. ancl the free-; and-easy manner in which therailway handle ani convey them to their destination. After being thrown about like logs of wood, and packed 3ft dpep in an open truck or X van, what can we expect they will look like on arrival at their destination, say, next day. ISo air, or else too muoh air ancl.no cover, bruised, sweated, and flyblown in transit, we lose the efforts of our labour, and blame the buyers unjustly.' The cause is want of proper aqcommodation, properly insulated or louvred trucks, in which to convey the rabbits to the factories, and which should be set apart for the conveyance of rabbits only, and not/used for all sorts of merchandise.

Another thing which we can notice 13 that Victorian rabbits bring 2d per pair more at Home than -New Zealand do. This arises from the fact that Government graders supervise the classing, and every rabbit sent Home passes through their hands: and gets the Government hall mark of quality. Mr M'Leod promised that in the event of his being elected, he will.use.'his influence on our behalf, and get Government graders appointed and proper trucks put on for our iise. Lvery trapper knows how much this would save to himself in rejects and 2d per pair extra.

Mr M Leod is a thorough man of business, and ; is on the right side of the HouEe to get what we-want clone •

Our present member does nothing in our interests. To every trapper who lias his own interests at heart now is the time to.get existing evils remedied, and-M'teod will do it. If :we vote to a man for M'Leod,- we are strong enough to put him at the top of the poll.—l am, etc., . BONA-FIDE TbAPPEE.
