OLD-AGE PENSIONS.

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, August 18.

Sir George Turner introduces his Old-age Pensions Bill on Tuesday. The bill provides for a special annual appropriation of £150,000 from the consolidated revenue for five years. The measure proposes a pension of £18 yearly to all men and women who have reached the age of 65, who are of good record, who have resided 25 years in this colony, and whose incomes do not exceed 10s weekly. For those under this age, but who have been rendered infirm through an unhealthy occupation, pensions will be given that will diminish £1 for every £1 of income exceeding £18, and £1 for every £15 worth of accumulated property.
