A Eowdy Character.—Edward Jones ao!miV ted that he had behaved in such-a manner ia Battray street, on Wednesday night, as to occa11°^ , bl; eadl of the Pcrlce' aDd als° that he had, at the same time, used obscene language.—Sub-Inspector Kiely stated that about 10 o'clock at night the man went into the Terminus Hotel, and became very rowdy because he was refused drink. He began knocking about those in tho bnr, and, because ho was put outside, he assaulted two or three persons, and used tho most filthy language to Miss Cornish.—Accused said he was under tho influence of drink.—The Sub-Inspector having mentioned that tho man was not known here, a fine of 50s was imposed in the first case, and ac-; eused was ordered to come up for'sentenco when called on in the other.—ln reply to his Worship, accused said he had no moans. His Worship said in that case he would have a warrant for imprisonment issued. Maintenance.—Horatio Smith Jlaokay was charged with failing to support his wife and children, and was represented by Miss Benjamin.—Mr Sidey, who appeared for complainant, .stated that the parties were married about 15 years ago, and there were four children of tho ■marriage, one being 14 years of age, and at work. Defendant began to drink shortly after tlu marriage, was guilty of cruelty, and assaulted his wife, who then tried to support herself.—Evidence was given by Janet Mackay. —An order was made for the payment of 10s a week.—- —Charles Robert Neave consented to an order for the payment of 15s, for the support of his -wife, being made against him. An order was made against Patrick O'Leary for the payment of 12s a-weck for the maintenance of hia four children.—Mr Hanlou appeared for defendant.
Drunkenness.—Lena Sullivan, wlio had been
four times charged with drunkenness within the past six months, was fined '10s, in default seven days' imprisonment.
