The Daily Timer, announce that their historical and descriptive pamphlet of the gold dredging industry, embellished with illustrations of dredges at work, and with a, sketch plan of the Molyueux, Kawarau, and Manuherikia Rivers, showing the dredging claims, will be issued about the 26th inst.

DREDGING RETURNS,

The secretary of the Matau Dredging Company reports that the return for three days is 7Soz.

All kinds of wild rumours were rife yesterday concerning the return of the Hartley and Kiley dredge for the present week. No official information has been supplied to ua, and in the present excited state of the market for this company's shares those interested should await the official announcement. ■ The reports current were to the effect that the return this week is likely to top all previous dredging records, but, as already, stated, nothing is known officially.

THE MORNING STAR GOLD DREDGING

COMPANY (LIMITED),

The first statutory meeting of shareholders in the Morning Star Gold Dredging Company (Limited) was held on the 10th lust., when there was a good attendance, Mr" W. F. Edmond being in the chair. The following were elected director*:— Messrs W. P. Edmond Job Wain, W. T. Wallace, C. P. M. Butterworth, and S. Luke. Mr T. Chalmer was elected auditor, and Mr E. H. Fulton. secretary. Contracts were let for the supply of new buckets of a capacity of 3J cubic feet, and also for new top and bottom tumblers, and these will be ready in a few days. The machinery on the dredge taken over from the New Zealand Dredging Company will be thoroughly overhauled, and brought ,up to date, and it is expected work will be resumed within three months from date.

THE STOCK EXCHANGE. Business was again brisk yesterday. Sales took place of Hartley and Kiley stores at 101s, 102s, 102s Gd, and 101s 3d; Magnetic, 60s; Vincent, 59s Gd. The following sales of scrip were made at the premiums named:—Central Electric, 12s 3d, 12s, 11s 9d, 12s, 12s 3d, 12s 6d, and 12s 9d; Upper Magnetic, 3d; Golden River, sd; Alpine No. 2, 2s 4d; Dunstan Lead, 7s 4d: Second Magnetic, 3s Sd and 3s Gd.
