A MESSAGE FEOM'THE QUEEN
WELLINGTON,"January 5.
On New Year's Day -the Governor, at the request of the Premier, the following cable message to the, Secretary of State for the Colonies:—"Please to inform her Majesty that-the people of New Zealand are desirous of sending their affectionate personal' and heartfelt wishes for a bright and happy New Year." To-day bis Excellency., received the .following reply from the Secretary of State: " The Queen ■ commands me to express her thanks to the people of New Zealand, and further, I am commanded :. to convey to them her good wishes for the New Year."
