The-railway returns up to date show a revenue of £45,000 more than for the same period last year. The department is badly in need of waggons, and though it; secured a vote'for 500, more, the officials say they could do. with 1500. ... ......
The. revenue.for the four-weekly period ending . 15th October amounted to £98,154 and the, expenditure• to £69,329. The revenue from the South Island lin«s amounted to £60,259 and the expenditure to £40,678.The revenue, from the ■ North : Island lines was £37,894 and the expenditure to £28,650. The revenue from .the Hurunui-Bluff line for the -four weeks was £52,774 and the expenditure £35,739.; ... . • . .
