SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.
There was much bustle at the Agricultural Hall. last evening preparing- for the opening to-night of the Industrial Exhibition. Most of the exhibits came to hand,, and'a large proportion of these were placed, in position. So numerous are the exhibits that it was found all could not be displayed in the main hall, so that space had to be found for quite a number in.the machinery hall. Large crowds attended about the hall last evening in the hope of bein" able to see the exhibition before it was opened, but as the presence of the public would have interfered with..the work they were of course not admitted; The children's choir, under Mr Braik, went .through their final rehearsal last evening ill excellent style, and in this department no hitch .is .likely to mar the proceedings. .... Intending visitors should bear in mind that proceedings will commence promptly at 7.30 by the choir' singing the " Old Hundredth. The Rev.;Dr Waddell will follow with a prayer, and. then the choir, which numbers GOO, will go through the remainder of the programme. The Kev. A.. North, chairman of the executive, will .then call upon his Worship the Mayor to formally declare the exhibition open, and visitors . will then find their ■ way about the halls sight.-seeing. .This will only be possible to a limited extent on the opening night, as the attendance is sure to be so large that notwithstanding the size of the- halls locomotion will be a matter of.some difficulty. The catalogues are now ready, and when it is mentioned that it is a booklet of over 70 pages, some idea of the extent of tho exhibition may be gained. The exhibition will be open for less than a fortnight, and as competitions of some kind or other will be going on nearly every afternoon and evening",' there should, not bo a dull moment for visitors.
