MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Judgment was given for the plaintiffs,, with coats, in the following undefended cases:—New Zealand Tablet Company (for whom Mr Gallaway appeared) v. Thomas Burns (Hokitika), claim £5 6s (id, for subscriptions to the Tablet; same v. J. W. M'Duff (Wanganui), claim £8 17a 6d ; same v. Patrick Nolan (Kerrytown), claim £318s; same v. J. Fitzharris (Studholme), claim £6 5s ; tame v. Peter Paul Fleming (Wellington), claim £1 7s; same v. Thomas S. Lambert (Wellington), claim £1 J3s 9d, for advertising; Francis Meenan v. Willis Laing (Port Chalmers), claim £5 2s 7d; Walter A. Scott (for whom Mr Moore appeared) v. Robert Phillips (Cromwell), olaim £27 for a bicycle supplied ; P. Hayman and Co. (for whom Mr Gallaway appeared), v. Launcelot F. Andrews (Ashburton), claim £11 lis Id, for goods supplied.

Charles T. Paterson v. George Smith.—Claim £14 8s sd, on a judgment summons.—Mr W. C. MacGregor appeared for the plaintiff.—There was no appearance of the defendant, who was ordered to p*y the amount claimed, with costs, by monthly instalments; in default, 21 days' imprisonment.

Charles Fraser v. Arthur Alexander.—Claim £3 17s, for three weeks' rent at lis a week, and four weeks' rent in lieu of notice.—Mr W. C. MacGregor (instructed by Mr A. J. Park) appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Gallaway (instructed by Mr Hanlon) for the defendant.—After evidence, judgment was given for the plaintiff for £-2 4s and costs (£ll2s).

The New Zealand Kngineering and Electrical Company v. Alexander Sutherland (Balclutha).— Claim £'113s, the price of 100 wire strainers and six handle?, manufactured by plaintiffs on defendant's order, and which defendant refused to accept or pay for.—Mr Woodhouse appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr W. C. MacGregor for the defendant—After evidence, judgment was given for tht defendant, with coats (£1 ls).
