A remand was granted, bail in the meantime being refused. The annual Christian Endeavour Convention was held to-day. A warm discussion took place on a paper by Mr Baker, in which manly and athletic sports were commended. Several speakers deplored the inordinate attention now given to sports, and others defended football and crick.'.. Ac the executive tea to-night to ministers and their wives, Bishop Cowie and Mrs Cowie were present. Tbe Bishop expressed his sympathy with the Christian Endeavour movement, in which his wife shared. He said he was pleased to be present among his brethren, and referred to his long and pleasurable acqu.-iotance with his Presbyterian ministerial colleagues, the Revs. B. Modto and Thoma_ Norrie.
