NORTH END BOATING CLUB'S RUN.
The filial hea's of the North End Boating Club's 220 and 4.0 yards run (for Mr W. Dowson's clock and Mr M. Moloney's trophy) csme ofi on the Carisbrook ground on Wednesday evening, ahd resulted as follows : —
229 Yards. — Robertson, 20yds, 1; Veitch, 21yds, 2; Churchill, 22yds, 3. D. Smith 21yds also statted. Robertson won on the tape by a foot, with Churchill a good third. Time, 23scc. 440 Yards. — Veitch, 30yds, 1; Robertson, 25yds„2; Chur-'hill, 29yd5,.3. Cuttriss 27yds also competed. This race resulted in au easy win for Veitch by four or live yards. Time, 53sec. Veitch and Robertson tied for the largest number of points.'but an arrangement was come to between both parties whereby Veitch will take the clock._ , , The fame club also held a mile run (Mr Higgens's trophy) for those members who are debarred from competing at the club's amateur sports. The etatters were J. Burk (scratch), Alexander Sharp (45yds), Alexander (100 yds). The two limit men held their own until coming np the straight in the last lap, when Burk came with a great spnrt and beat Sharp by two or three feet for first place, Alexander close Up thipd. Time, 4-min 54sec.
