An Auckland telegram states that Mr D*. Ziman, who was in the colony a few months ago and arranged for the purchase of several properties at Reefton, is due in New Zealand shortly, as he will reach Adelaide by the P. and O. Company's steamer Ophir on the 20th. Mr Ziman has engaged the services of an American engineer, who will supei intend operations in the mines he has acquired at Reefton; also an expert analyst; also an assayer, whose business will be chiefly the treatment of refractory ores. The Cromwell Areus says:—" Still more dredging claims have been pegged out during the past week—ohe at Upper Nevis, one at Lower Nevis, another on the Kawarau hear Bannockburn Creek, and yet,another covering Hartley and Riley's beaches.—At a meeting of the Lovvburn Miners' Association - the secretary stated that owing to the probability of the Clutha being worked by dredging he had made a representation to the Mines department and also io the Waste Land Board.to have all the low river flats tohserved for mining purposes, and had received a favourable reply from the Mines department. He also stated bavins forwarded a recommendation to have the FruidbUrn opened for tailings, land in this connection bad forwarded a sample of =gold, showing the auriferous nature of adjoining lands. This was on account of the Miller's Plat kraac-u A reply is not yet to hand."
