The Anglican Cathedral Fund Committee have decided to purchase a site in Taranaki street for £7000. The contributions promised to the fund amount to over £3600, and the Key. Mr Booth has offered to give an additional £500 on ceztain conditions.

It is proposed to hold a conference of delegates from the Manchester Unity Oddfellows' district governing bodies for the whole of New Zealand in Wellington next month, opening on the 4th. Amongut the subjects to be considered is a proposal to establish a uniform scale of contributions throughout the colony.

At the Supreme Court 10-day the Crown prosecutor entered a nolle prosequi in the easa of Peter Stephen, an Assyrian, charged; with perjqry. Cessare Pierotti, an Italian, was charged (1) with having attempted to murder Gaetaoo Russo, and (2) with haviug attempted to do him actual bodily harm. Accused and the prosecutor are bota fisherman, and Piorotti is supposed to have had a grievance because Ruseo and his brother would not supply him with fish. Ou thn night of the 30th November prosecutor met Pierotti and another Italian in Cuba street, and Pierotti asked thorn to coma round to hia shop, a3 his viifo wiuited to speak to Russo. Ou getting inside Pierotti is alleged to have shut the door and drawn a knife, saying " Now I'm going to bill one of you." Ha raised the knife to strike Russo, but the other Jtalian seized his arm and stopped the blow from falling. The jury found the accused "Not guilty," and he was discharged.
