LAWN TENNIS TOURNAMENT.

The Otago Lawn Tennis Association's tour« nament was continued yesterday, the weather again being beautiful, and making matters enjoyable for players andspectators alike. In tha Men's Championship Singles, Sleigh beat Lynch lather easily, which was a matter ofsnrprisa to many. Lynch did not show anything like his usual farm. Gavin, who has been playing witb remarkable brilliancy, beat Richardson rathe* easily in the same event. Borrows proved far too strong for Branson in the third round, though Branson, who is a comparatively yonng player, put in soma most effective strokes. The match between Mian May Macdonald and Miss Mackerras in the Ladies' Championship Single* was one of the best-contested games of the day among the ladies, and it would have been closer but for thef act that Miss Mackerras stMt.d a lobbing game aud wore her opponent down. Mils Campbell and Miss Graham also fought a good fight, the former lady playing more steadily though not co brilliantly as her adversary. Tho Combined Double in which Hogg and Miss Mackerras met Adams and Mra Tennant was one of the chief events of th« day, and was splendidly contested—Miss Maekerras's hard drives and Adams's volleying being special features. In the Men's Championship Doubles the game between Macdonald and Vickers and Ross and Ledger was a well-played event. Borrows and Crawshaw pat down Hislop and Fisher rather easily in the second round, and the winners then met Harraway and Sise and achieved another rather easy vie. tory. The Adams brothers had a close game with Macdonald and Vickers, K. Adams being mainly instrumental in gaining the win by his volleying. The last game played was a Double Handicap between Hogg and Sleigh and Fenton and Branson, and it was one of the finest of the tournament, the play being very fast. Plaj lasted as long os daylight Vfould permit. On Saturday a start v.-ii) be made at 12.30, and as tlie finals are very elo»e, snd in some cases reached, the interest in the tournament will bo at its highest. It m:_iit not be out of place to mention that Mr R. Koch, the present singlehanded ohampion, is prevented from-competing in the tournament owing to illness.

The two sides of the human face are never alike. In two out of four tbe eyes are out of lino; in seven people out of ten one eye is stronger than the other; the right ear is almost always higher than the loft; but, owing ta perfect machinery, "The Trump" Waterbury Watch is always the samo reliable timekeeper— a marvel of cheapness. Obtainable everywhere. — Jay Gould's eslato has been officially appraised at £20,783,860. This sum is to ths ordinary mortal absolutely inconceivable. SRY CANADIAN CLUB WHISKY.
