DUNEDIN BURNS CLUB.
The monthly social evenings of the Dunedin Burns Clab have become eminently popular with lovers of Scotch melody, and the osunl large attendance was, present at the eleventh monthly meoting given last night in the Choral Hall. Mr J. B. Thomson (the president of the club) occupied the chair, and made a few introductory remarks. Mr J. R. Thornton (oue of. the vice-presidents) also occupied a seat on' the platform. TJnder tbe direction of Mr J. B. Fergusson, the choir, which appears to be growing in numbers and improving in efficiency, rendered "John Anderson,-my Jo," **The banks o' Loch Lomond," and the solo and chorus " Ac fond kisi," all of which met with hearty recognition; The club seem to have an extensive list of soloists upoii whom a call can be made, and it i 3 quite usual to find a number of new names on' the programme. Last night Mr Boss gave " Tiie nmrch of the Cameron men," Miss Burnside "Kow'weel my boatie," Miss Ellis "Flora Mscdonald's lament," Mr J. Todd " The piper o' Dundee," Mr J. Sutherland " There grows a boDnie brier," Mr Thornton "I lo'e the bonnie lasses," and Mr AY. Morrison "The battle of Stirling." All these were well received. Mrs Todd, besides filling the important post of accompanist, played "Balmoral" as a pianoforte solo ;Mr R Brown gave an amusing recitation entitled " Fishin'," and Mr Ansting performed a selection of gee-teh airs on the flute. "Auld lane
syne" having been sung by all assembled, the hall was oleared and a short and enjoyable dance followed.
