EDUCATION BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Eduoation Board, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs H. Clark (chairman), A. M'Kerrow, D. Borrie, J. MacGregor, J. Green, and Dr Stenhouse.
Mr T. Mackenzie wrote that he was unable to attend the board's meeting owing to the Hinemoa being detained at Westport. A nnmber of small grants for repairs were lllowed.
It was decided to carry out some alterations recommended by the architect at the Waipori jchbol. On the application of new ventilators, coming np the architect was instructed to see that, in future the ventilators were properly oleared of obstructions, many of the membera expressing tiie opinion that a large saving cquld be effected if-proper attention were given by the teaohers and committees to the ventilators.
It was resolved to erect an additional class room at the Henley School.
The following tenders were accepted :—New residence nt Kyeburn, W. HaU and Son, £155; shifting school building, Maruimata, D. Calder, £95.. . . ■'■■.■'
Mr H. Hotop, lion, secretary of tha Cromwell School Committee, wrote: "I have to inform you that at the last meeting of the Cromwell School Committee the following resolution was carried: —' (1) That this committee is not in sympathy with the opinion expressed in the Cromwell Argus of the 28th January last in reference to examination of the Cromwell School by-Inspector Richardson ; (2) that this committee* considers that far too much has been made of this matter; -(3) that the article in question was - quite uncalled for.' ?'— The members expressed their satisfaction with the contents of the letter,
