The Post is informed that ifc is the intention of the owners of the barqne Lothair to sue the New Zealand Government for damages for alleged illegal detention of their vessel. Two medical men have made an inspection of the barque at the request of the Government, aad they agree with the health officer and others who have examined the sufferers among tHe crew that the disease is "beriberi" and io not infectious, but notwithstanding this opinion they recommend that quarantine conditions should be imposed on the ship.

The Government have released the barqua Lothair from further quarantine regulations afc Nelson. Mr George Fisher, Italian Consul,'! leaves with four men engaged to take the place of those who died, and it is expected that tbe vessel will shortly resume her voyage.
