Mr John White, manasing director of the Hound Hill Mining Company (Uinited), informs us that the return for tho month of Jauunry is £621: one elevator. Tbla company isnowßpendingaboutiltSODO in widening and extending its water races and layinir new plant—9o chaine of 271n aud 30 chains 'o (18in steel pipes. When completed the races will bring In ttiiflicietit water to run three elevators constantly day and night. It is anticipated the returns will then be nearly £2000 a month. About CO men are now employed by the company, to ba shortly increased to 70 or 80 in order to push tho work through. The new pipe lino will, it is hoped, be laid and tho wator tnrnoil on before the end of June. Tho steel plates for the pipes, now on shipboard, should roach the colony by the end of March, and will be made up on tho ground. The whole nf tho work is undor the control of the imtuagQr, Mr George Lee.
