BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETINGS.

80UTH DUNKDIN, ' The fortnightly meeting of tho South Dunedin Boiough Council was held last nisht, and was attended by the Mayor (Jlr Wardrop). Crs Fisher, Shacklock. Thomas, Fiddis, Holley, and Osborne Mm Doran wrote complaining of the existence of a nuisance in Stafford street —Received. The Secretary of the Benevolent Institution Trustees wrote notifying that the annual meeting, for the imrpose of electing trurteen, would be hold on the 2nd December, and requested that the council would appoint a representative. A similar communication was received from the Secretary of tliß Hospiiai Trustees.—Cr FUher was appointed to attend both meeting*. The Finance Comniittse's report, recommending the payment of accounts amounting to £3J los lod, was adopted. The Ohairman of the lire Brigade Committee reported having inspected the Fire Brigade gear oud having found it in good working order— Received.

The Inspector reported having inspected the locality where the nuisance complained of by Mrs Doran was said to exist.—He was instructed to rectify the matter. He reported that two loads of screenings were required for making asphalt — Material to be obtained. He reported further that the Telegraph department had cut up the main road footpaths, and sugeeslod that a price be got from tbree nr four men for repairing Bame. Iho department was willing to pay tbe cost of the work.—Work to be put in haod.
