I'" ■ A man named John Weir, about 60 years of ' j age, who lived alone at Gladfield/North {Tweri, was found dead in his room at noon yesterday. Deceased had returned from the Dunedm Hospital on Saturday last,' and bad been fll since. •'"■;','. ' -. .'.-';*' ! A giii nine years oE age, named Mary • Walker, residing with her mother in. Melbourne street, South Dunedm, died yesterday morning about 8 o'clock sifter a very :brief illness. She attended the Kensington School on the previous day, when she complained of a sore throat. She was sent home by the head master, and her mother administered' some simple^ remedies, which appeared to relieve the child. About 10 o'clock she'was breathing-heavily, and during the night Mrs Walker applied some ' poultices, but on the following morning death intervened. Au inquest will be held at 9.30 this morning. : -. Northern papers report that Stsphen Firrie, aged 60 years, died 'suddenly at-Mr Hugh Wallace's camp at Waihao, oh: Sdnday., He had finished dinner! and was sitting smoking, when he complained of being ill.
