Auckland, July 24. The Women's Liberal League haveeeceded from the Central Council. The Salvation Army have started a _ni"b!b. shelter. °
Wkllington, July 24. At a large meeting to-night it was decided to form au anti-Chinese league, and to convene a public meeting to discuss the question, at which the Hon. Mr Reeves and ' several M.H.R's. are expected' to speak. Among the speakers to-night was Mr Bailinger, of Christchurch.
CHBISTCHtjnCH, July 21. At the Charitable Aid Board meeting the relief register showed that a grand total of upwards of 2000 persons were relieved in the month of- June. Five hundred separate cases comprising 1729 persons were in receipt of outdoor relief in cne or more of its various forms. The figures for the corresponding month, of last year were 491 cases and 1514-persons.
