LAND BOARD.

c The weekly meeting of the Land Board was held on Wednesday, and was attended by Messrs J. P. ! Maitland (chairman); W. Dallas, H. Clark, j! I Duncan, and A. M'Kerrow. Catmns District. —Consideration was given to ' a proposed surrender by A. C. Farquhar of southern portion (191 a3r 32p) of section 4, block VI, Catlins district.—Surrender agreed to I Ranklebukn Distsict. — Stock Inspector I Hassall forwarded an application from J. W. I Gent for a grazing right over section 1, block VII and section 43, block VI, Ranklebiuu district.— The matter was referred to the chief commissioner, j Transfer Approved.—The transfer of per- i petual lease of section 51, block I, Catlios, from ' Thomas Knowles to James aud John Mitchell I was approved. Glenomaru.—The transfer of part of perpetual I lease 564, coinpri«iug 93 acres of section "SO, block | VIII, Glenomaru, was approved. A Contested Case.—The board considered an application to transfer perpetual lease 1067, section S, block I, Maniototo, from Margaret A. Murdoch to George Deveney. Mr AY. O. Macgregor appeared for Margaret Murdosh, and the Hon. John MaeGregoi- for the Farmers' Agency (mortgagees).—Evidence was taken, after which the board deferred the further hearing of the matter. ■ The meeting waa then adjourned till Friday.
