(Per United Pbess Association.) ACOKI-aud, May 15. A deputation of the Early Closing Association snd shopkeepers in favour of the Saturday half-holiday waited upon Sir P. A. Bncldey at Auckland this forenoon, and urged him to use his influence with the Government with a vies? to having the'act administered as ib stood at present. Sir Patrick informed the deputation that he was glad their views of the matter had been placed before him, as he was under the impression that .the deputation of shopkeepers yesterday represented that the conseDsos of opinion in Auckland was in favour of Wednesday. _ He promised to lay the facts before the Premier, with a view to having the wishes of the deputation given effect to. A petition signed on behalf of 150 unemployed men was sent to the Hon. J. M'Kenzio yesterday, asking tor any employment that wonld afford them the means of keeping their | families. ■
