A TRAGEDY IN TARANAKI.

A man named Ben appears to have killed his vfiia and daughter and then shot himself at Mahoeta, Taranaki, From some unexplained cansc tho telegram giving particulars of the affair did not come to hand last night. All the particulars available are contained ia the following tslegram :— t New Plyjiouth, May 15. Later news to h»nd of the tragedy at Muhoeta is to the effect that Beu'a wifo has been found { in a hut, about halE a mile from the pa, with her head smashed in. An wte was found alongside, the body. It is presumed Ben firnt killed his wife, then went to the pa and killed his danghter, set flre to the whsre, and then shot himself. _ An inquest veill be hejld to-morrow. Jealousy is supposed tobe the cause.
