Afc the meeting of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board the question of hospital management and discipline again came up for discussion, several hoiirs being devoted to the subject: : The leading points of the sub-com-mittee's report on the internal managementof the institution were again gone into, and the original report, which had been considerably amended by the . House Committee last week, had to undergo much further amendment before its adoption, r The clause requiring the dismissal of all charge nurses in order to enable "the the new medical superintendent to choo6e his own staff was rejected, and the clause referring to the consumption of stimulants and* medics! comfort by members of the bftard amended by striking out the words ■■■" this is necessary, beoause on occasioas stimulants have beea supplied to members of the board of which no record has been made, while the annual supply statements would show that all alcoholic liquor had been used for patients." Some other clauses were either struck out or amended. The resignation of Nurse Edwards was, accepted with regret., Nurse Banbury wrote stating she had mtsnded for 6ome time past bo'eiad in her resignation in view of the recent/ development, and not wishing to be subjected to fnrther annoyance, s__e now desired to. terminate her. connection with the hospital. Nurse Banbury's resignation was accepted. -A letter received by the chairman from Dr Magill was :l_ffc for future consideration. It concludes as follows :—" Unless the board honestly carry out. the reasonable proposal of tlie board to leave the internal management completely .to 'the . future medical superintendent the position will be no better off than it is at present, as there is plenty to occupy one's attention ip the building without being hampered by outside interference."
