Mr Hesketh has received a. communication from his Wellington agents stating that the Attorney-general has definitely refused to issue his fiat to test tha validity in the Supreme Court of the Gazette notice declaring Saturday to be the half-holiday. Mr Hesketh Btates that this action is without precedent.

The medical evidence was. to the effect that the child had lived 21 hours, was fully developed, and was dead when put into the water. There was a mark round the> neck as if some soft material had been tightly wound round it, and death was caused by suffocation. The inquest was adjourned for a week.
