INVERCARGILL NOTES.

Invercargill, January 25,
The Tarawera arrived at the Bluff at 10 o'clock this morning from the first trip of the seaeon to the Sounds with excursionists. Excepting a few rain showers at Preservation Inlet the weather was.all that could be desired, and everyone seems to have thoroughly enjoyed the trip throughout. - The steamer sailed for Dunedin at 4.30 this afternoon.
This evening the newly formed Barns Club gave an out-and-out Burns entertainment ia commemoration of the 136 th anniversary of the poet's birthday. The Rev. J. Anderson Gardiner and Mr T. Denniston were the'speakers.
