THE WEEKLY HALF-HOLIDAY.

Auckland, January 25.
A conference of the delegates of the Boroughs of Newton, Newmarket, and Parnell, presided over by the Mayor of Auckland, have decided oa Saturday for the half-holiday, the butchers, photographers, and hairdressers being allowed to cheose Wednesday as provided by the act.
The half-holiday iv Milton and in Palmerstoa is to be observed on Wednesday. Thursday has been fixed for the half-holiday in Balt-lutha.
The Palmerston Borough Council have resolved—''That a respectful letter be sent to the member for the district, calling his attention to the glaring absurdities of the Shops and Shop Assistants Act, and to the desirability of steps being taken to have it amended next session."
The coalyards in town and suburbs will be ;losed on Saturday afternoons in future.
