The excitement over the election of the President is quieting down. M. Kaute is laid to be strongly sympathetic with ijngland. On the 20th M. Bourgeouls was summoned to form a Cabinet in succession to M. Dupuy, who had resigned. He undertook the task, fend gave forth as his programme pledges of iconcentrationandrepublicunion. Haselected as his colleagues H. Cavaignay, Minister for War; H. Shumann, Minister for Marine; M. Peytral, Minister for Public Works; M. Pointraire, Minister for Finance; and M. Honotaux, Minister for Foreign Affairs. Two days later be announced that he was unable to complete the Ministry, and attributed his non-success to tha face chat several of his colleagues objected to & progressive income tax. At the request of the President he renewed his efforts, but finally abandoned bis task yesterday.
