TO OUR WORKERS.
TO THE EDITOR. 3ib, —In your issue of this date I notice an advertisement, signed by Mr D. Reid, hon. sec of the Bimetallic League, announcing that au addreso will be delivered by Mr J. P. GrossrjQ'in, M.A., qf Christchuroh, in the Rattray strset Hall, on the 2Kb. inst. Again, I notice a local in the same issue stating that written invitations have been forwarded to the Kpijjhts of Labour, Trades and Labour Council, and the other important labour organisations of this city, whose professed object is the fostering and protecting of labour interests. In the present depressed times— and the outlook appears to many that the depression is deepening—l for one bail with delight the coming into our midst any man, from anywhere, who p»n show us the cause of the present unsatisfactory afcate of the wage-earner; and should he be able to point out a practical remedy, I hold that he should receive the warmest thanko of the various organisatiooA and the community at large. Let the axe be laid at the toot of the tree. Lot us find out tho cause, stnd then, apply the remedy. I trust that an the meeting is ■to be public the attendance will be such as will unmistakably show that our leaders in the various organisations of labour are in real earnest in the cause they advocate! Tha currency question is one of the things with which I have had but little acquaintance, but I prooose to know more about it, to read and hear | all I can on this or any other subject in which the interest of the masses of the people is concerned.
I fully expect that the Rattr&y street h*U will be too small for the requirements of those who [propose to attend, but this matter can easily be remedied at a future date. Fellow workers, if the present stele of the currency laws is the cause, or ossa of the causes, of present troubles, it is our duty to do all we can to have them altered in the interests of hnmanity.—l am, &c, January 22. Working Man.
