DUNEDIN HOSPITAL.
ELECTION OP TRUSTEES,
An unuanal amount of intsresb was'tttten yesterday in the election of two trustees of the Dtmediu Hospital to represent the subscribers for the ensuing year, and the Oddfellow*' Hall, I Stuart street, where the meeting was held oa the 10th inst. for the purpose of making the election, was crowded to overflowing. The retiring trustees were Messrs J. N. Browtt and W. Wright. The following candidates were proposed :~ s Jqhh Roberts, proposed by the Hen, W, D. Stewart and seconded by Mr A. Bart. J. N. Brown, proposed by Mr J. Green,, H.H.R., and seconded by Mr Nees. ■' William Weight, proposed by Mr C: ZieTa and seconded by Mr H. F. Hardy. J. R. Thornton, proposed by Mr John Dnthie and seconded by Mr C. H. Nicholla. Various suggestions were made for fixing an hour nt which the poll should cldse, bat it was eventually decided, withont dissent, that tha scrutineers close the ballot so soon as thfi number of voters in the hall was exhausted. I Tta ballot was closed at 5.15 p.m., and a quarter of an hour hter the Chairman was able ito announce that the following was the result 1 of the voting :— * John Roberts ... „. ... 272 William Wright ... ... ... 244 j.N.
