They are down 91ft with the winze on payable stone, and are opening up a block of good stone under No. 2 level. Cumberland have a very good return from the reef. The winze is down 61ft on rich stone. They intend having a trial crushing of this during the week to determine its value before going to the expense of driving for it in the low level. Lyell Creek, no change; sales, 2s 3d. Lyell Creek.—The mine manager's monthly report says:—"The tunnel is now driven 42ft from the start of the new contract, the curve making the distance a little longer than if driven on a straight course. Water was Btruck about 20ft back from the present face, which, in my opinioD, comes either from a quartz or mullock reef. The country for the last few feet seems to bo a bit jumbled up and underlying in various directions, so I would advise you to extend the drive ahead a few feet further, as the reef, if it lives down, is sure to be icterfected in the tunnel. The air pipes are all on the grouud, aud will bo fixed in position by Monday next."

The returns from Mr Gard's dredges for tho week ending 25th inst. are aa follow:—Steam dredge, 31-iz lfldwt. Current wheel not washed up.—Dunstan Times.
