SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETINGS.

Tho first meeting of the High street School Committee was held last evening, when Mr Hector Mercer was re-elected chairman, Mr Hosking secretary,- and Mr West treasurer. The applications for tho position of sixth assistant were then dealt with, and it was resolved to recommend tho board to appoint Miss Reid, of Waikouaiti, to the position. It was resolved to convey to Miss Nicamo the thank 3of the cormaittee for her services. The first meeting of the Arthur street School -Committee, held in the school last night, was attended by Messrs Mason, Bart, Crawford, Maokay, M'Gregor, Simpson, and Strufchers. Mr Mackay was unanimously elected chairman. Mr Simpson was elected secretary, and Mr Bart treasurer (re-elected). It was resolved that the committee meet on the second Monday of each month.

The Albany street School Committee met last night, when there were present—Meßars Barnett, Bichardson, Eggers, Dickson, Shepherd, Summerell, A. T. Anderson, H. W. Wait, and G. J. Anderson. Mr W. Barnett was re-elected chairman, and Mr H. W. Wait was elected secretary and treasurer. Messrs A. T. Anderson, Eggers, and Summeroll were appointed the Worki Committee; Messrs Sammerell, O. J. Anderson, and the chairman the Visiting Committee; and Messrs Eggers, Richardson, and Dickson the Gymnasium Committee (Mr Eggers to be empowered to lev the hall when required). Messrs Burnett, Shepherd, and A. T. Anderson were appointed trustees of the penny saviugs bank. Ifc was resolved that tenders bo called for the supply of fuel for the winter. The head master reported that a school library had been started very successfully, and intimated that any contribution from the committee aDd friend 9of the school would be gladly received. It was decided to hold the regular meetings on the first Tuesday iv each month. At the firsb meeting of the Kaikorai School Committee, held last evening, Mr A. I'erry was re-elected chairman and Mr G. Calder clerk and treasurer. Messrs Ferry and W. B. Harlow were appointed delegates to the School Committees Conference. .At the first meeting of the Kensington School Committee last evening, Mr Colin Allan was elected chairman and Mr Feil secretary and treasurer. The firft meeting of tho newly-elected committee of the Anderson's Bay School was held last evening. The Rev. A Cameron was appointed chairmaD, Mr Niohol treasurer, and Mr Jeffrey (head master) clerk. A Visiting Committee was appointed, also a oonimiUe» to consider what steps should be taken in regard to Arbor pay, to report at n'xfc meeting. The committee decided to take over the pen and ink money, and instructed the head master to collect such money on their behalf. Mr PonsonVy gave a donation of a lamp for the school hall. The head master reported that the pupils of tho upper classes were giving a penny a week towards getting a flag for the school. A meeting of the newly - elected Union street School Committee, held last evening, was attended by Messrs A. G. Christopher, G. Lawrence, J. White, I. Sslby, John Dathie, A. H. Shelton, James Davic, and G. C. Israel. Mr G. C. Israel was unanimously elected chairman for the ensuing year, and Messrs A. G. Christopher a<:d A. Meggetfc, secretary fand treasurer respectively. Mossrs Israel and Christopher wrre appointed delegates to the School Conference It was decided to meet on the first Tuesday in tho month. Mossrs Duvp, Duthie, and Shelton were appointed a Visiting Committee, and Messrs White, Selby, and Lawrence a Works Committee. A nearly vote of thanks was passed to Messrs Duthie, Meggett, and L»wrencefor their past services. A meeting of the George street School Committee, held last night, was attended by Messrs C. Haynes (in the chair), A. Thomson, J. W. Jago, W. F. Browne, 8. Thomson, R. Coghill, W. B. Manley, J. Dryden, aud the Rev. J. Gibson Smith. Mr Haynes was elected chairman, and Mr W. F. Browne secretary. Twenty - one applications for the position cf sixth assistant in the school were received, and the committee decided to appoint Mr W. F. Browne, Jan., to the position. During the consideration of the applications Mr Browne retired from the meeting, his son being one of the applicants.
