OUR VOLUNTEERS.
On Wednesday, 25th iusfc., the ordinary gun drill parade of B Battery was held at the Garrison Hall, when there were present Captain Monkman, Lieutenants Chalmer and Morris, and 38 non-commissioned officera and men. Before dismissing the parade Captain Monkman mentioned that he had been instructed by the Defence Office that in future the battery was to drill as a field battery only— that is to say, all foot drill was to be tte same as that used by cavalry when on foot. A meeting was afterwards held, at which the report of the Orderly Room Committee was presented and adopted, and the following were elected a committee to make all arrangements as to fitting up and furnishing the room, which it is hoped will be available within a fortnight:—Lieutenant Morris, Sergeant-major Waters, Quarter-master-sergeant Baron, ai»d Sergeant Stewart.
