PICNIC.
1 i Messrs A. Morrison and Co.'s employees held r their annual xpicnic at Quarantine Island on J Saturday last. The paddle steamer lona left the v wharf at 9 o'clock with about 200 picnickers on i board, and arrived at its destination about an . hour later. The weather, although threatening I at the start, cleared up, and a very enjojable time i war; spent until the steamer took them off in the evening. The following were the successful competitors in tho sports : — i Boys' Race (under 18).—A. Murray 1, Pv Mellon 2, R. Canning 3. , A. Morrison and Co.s Handicap.—W. Alexander 1, R. Canning 2, J. Dillon 3. Long Jump.—W. Borlais (16ft 9in) 1. Three-legged Race. —E. Austin and W\ Borlais 1. Married Mex's Race.—C. Hodges 1, G. Butlin 2, T. Gillies 3. Single Ladies' Race.—MUs Miller 1, Miss Austin 2. Hop, Step, and Jump.—W. Borlaia (36ft 4in) 1. Maiuued Ladies' Race.—Mrs Jeffs' 1, Mrs Campbell 2. One-mile Walk.—A. Chambers l t D. Whelah 2, M. Dillon 3. Old Bukkers'\Ra'ce.—Mr Scott I,1 Mr Morrison 2. Smoking Race.—A. Scott 1, J. Isaacs 2. Committee Rack.—l. Isaacs 1, J. Campbell and T. Gillies (dead heat) 2. The Naval Band was in attendance during the day. ■ ■ ' .
