■ A special meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council was held for the purpose of electing a town clerk. Before proceeding with the business, the mayor (Mrs Yates), took exception to the presence of Messrs Row and Hill, who had resigned their, seats. These gentlemeit thereupon stated they remained in office until such time as their, successors were appointed. The Mayor replied that she ruled differently, and would not allow any business to ba transacted while those gentlemen were present to vote. The council adjourned to January 8, by which time successors would be appointed.
