(Peb United Peess Association.)

Wellington, October 2. Reports from the pilot station state that a large barque was seen on Friday making south, and by 1 o'clock she was out of sight. The northerly gale was then moderating, but a few hours later there was fierce southerly weather, and no chance of the barque, which would meet the full fury of the storm, getting back into the strait. ■■■■■. The pilot crew go out this morniDg to search the coast from Pencarrow towards Barms Heads. , 8 Captain Manning, of theßotorua, states that for two miles the sea was strewn with wreckage, consisting of ship's railage, a sextant case, pillows, cushions, cordage, and a quantity of woodwork from the upper part of a vessel. Contrary opinions exist among seafaring men. Some.think that the vessel has merely had her decks swept, others fear that she hais foundered. The pilot boat which went out to search the beach returned at dark and signalled ihat they had found wreckage, but could not make known any particulars. ; '
